Senior Swimming

First swim for us Senior School Students

Some of us are new to the senior end of the kura. We were nervous, some of us had anxiety and the water was cold. We got used to the temperature of the water almost straight away. We were all extremely grateful for the swim because the day was super hot! The temperature was something like 21 degrees and that was at 9am!!

We were split up into groups so our teachers could see what water skills we have and what we need to work on. Some of us tried new things like swim to the bottom of the diving pool, but that didn't work out!
Some of us learnt that swimming is not all about freestyle, breaststroke or backstroke, but keeping ourselves safe and knowing what to do should we find ourselves in unfortunate circumstances like getting stuck in a rip or falling out of a boat.

After our lessons, we were allowed to have 15 minutes freetime. We all had a blast! Some of us jumped off the high diving board and the extra clever children dived off that very same board!

  1. Kia ora Tui,
Thanks for sharing about your trip to the pools. It looks like you had an excellent time and learnt some important things about keeping yourself safe in the water. Free time at the end sounds like so much fun.
I look forward to reading more great posts from you during the year!
